Development is a multi-headed, seriously information-heavy task, and if the information is kept easily accessible, it will be nearly impossible to keep track of. Some of the information linked to below is for use in actual design work; other bits are partially completed and needs to be updated for the final vision of the world and game. Most of the linked-to pages have no return links.
Some of this will get broken up and cleaned up into component systems, but the systems are largely all interrelated. Some have more detail than others.
General discussion
A highly edited email discussing some questions on systems and some
concerns with them. Largely here to remind Melissa to write more of
the vision for the code.
Systems Detailing
The intial run through of detailing what systems we can. The
"details" are rather conceptual. We are not attacking how it will be
coded - that will be done after the design is complete and specs are
in place.
Comm/Roster
Preferences for a communications and organizational roster system. It
needs to be reviewed and updated once the decision on OOC vs. IC
communication is made.
Room Builder
A general specification on a global room builder, designed to build
and chown over the room to a player. Note that this is MUSH specific,
and will need to be revised.
Theme Basics
A list of theme elements to consider and some conversations (both
email and real-time) about these elements.
Theme Ideas
Additional theme ideas that need to be worked in or abandoned. There
are some aspects of the continued history story included here.
JCP chat on TFA
A conversation with JCP on IRC about some issues and possible ideas
for the game. Most of the ideas will be adopted, although I'm still
wrestling with vegetarian elves.
These used to be the wizard pages for Tales. This is what's left, and in order for it to be useful to TFA, it needs extensive rewriting. Some of it will be be tossed out, other bits could be useful.
How To Be A Wiz
This is both what to do when promoting staff, and also what wizards
do. It's MUSH and Tales specific, which won't do at all. This will
have to wait until further development on managers has been done. It
may prove to be completely unncessary.
Work Tips
Tips for better working wizards. This could probably be combined with
the above, as a general guideline for managers. Needs Tales specific
stuff removed.
TinyPlot Guidelines
These are not necessarily MUSH specific, although there may be some
bits which are. Mostly, it will need to be updated to reflect the
style of play and the rules put into place for plot submission.
Idle-dest announcements
Tales used to destroy characters which weren't played for 60 days or
more, unless the player told us they were on vacation. The rules are
different for TFA, but this is worth considering.
New Character information
Basic information sent to new players when they get their first
character. We'll want something of the sort, as a package deal.
Newbie Packet
A more complex package of information sent to new players when they
get their first character. This was written by a player who was tired
of newbie questions, and is a bit of overkill.
TP Guide 2
Rules and requirements that are Tales specific for tinyplots. Not
useable as is, but good for a guide.
Tales/Cuen Character
A sample character for Tales/Cuendillar (same system).
Firan is another RPG in the same vein, using a completely alien world built with a Greco-Roman feel to it. They've gone and made a macro economy and a complex, ongoing plot. The system is a good one, for the server it's on, and looking at the problems it has with the server is one of the reasons I've abandoned that particular server format.

These are some rooms and descriptions previously made and potentially useful.
D-Space Descriptions
A file designed to be used with a perl script to upload information
to a MUSH server. The descriptions are generic descriptions for rooms
in a matrix - 14,000+ rooms were able to be handled in this matrix
without bloating the database. There are useful descriptions in here.
Castle Rooms
A castle designed for a fantasy setting. Straight upload to a MUSH
server without need of a script. Still useful.
Saidar's Project
A file designed to be used with a perl script to upload information
to a MUSH server. The project is a ruined keep design, only partially
finished. Usable for adventures.
