Born and raised in Bandar Eban, I have always been at the center of everything. Fashion, commerce, nobility, and (of course) handsome men. My mother, Laenomille, worked very hard her entire life to ensure that my sisters and I had the best of everything. Well, close to it. Being the second of five girls has _not_ been fun, but I managed to be the prettiest and smartest of them all. Whenever Momma went to the docks to trade with the Atha'an Miere, I was right alongside her, soaking it all up. I learned how to haggle with the best of them, using the skills that only we Domani women can learn properly. She always paid far under what she should have, and the merchants still felt they had gotten the better deal. It's a wonderful trick that she passed on to her daughters. Even though we all had to watch her cut the style the gems just so, I'm the only one who could duplicate it exactly, which _really_ annoyed my sisters, especially Maidelle, the oldest. She never could do anything right, even Poppa said so. Poppa. He was the most handsome man you could ever imagine, with dark brown hair and eyes and a smile that made women swoon. But he was all Momma's. Anytime they were together, you could feel the love in the room, even when they weren't looking at each other. He used to tell me stories about creatures from the Age of Legends. I knew they weren't real, but he had such a charismatic way of speaking that you just _had_ to believe him. Even though he said he loved us all equally, I know I was his favorite. Sometimes he would come home with a brand new dress or shoes made especially for me. That annoyed Maidelle too. He was the best father a girl could ask for... until that one morning. It was late Choren and the leaves were just starting to turn all manner of reds and yellows and browns. He was taking me to the new tailor to get my measurements taken for a dress for my tenth birthday. We walked to the main road, when suddenly a horse and cart with no rider came out of nowhere! All I remember was pain, then waking up a few minutes later on the ground. I crawled over to Poppa but... it was too late. I didn't speak to anyone for three months after that. Pardon me, but I'd like to change the topic... Men. Yes, my favorite thing to talk about. I mastered all 107 ways to touch a man's face _and_ 93 different types of kisses by the time I was 12. Then again, Momma was a good teacher. I used to get boys and even grown men to buy me all kinds of sweets and presents, but I never really liked any of them. I never really got very close to any man after Poppa, now that I think about it. Maybe someday. For now, I'm having too much fun playing with their minds. All I have to do is look at them the right way, and they would go to the Blight and back for me. It's a great game, truly! They confess their souls to me, but I never actually tell them anything of myself. That would be too risky... and it's not part of the fun. One day maybe I'll marry a nobleman who can get me everything I wish with a snap of his fingers. I deserve that, at the very least. The only thing that I _cannot_ stand is smoke from pipes and cigars. It's disgusting! Not to mention, it makes my eyes all teary and I can't breathe. Once I even broke out into hives! Ick! ----------===========================>|<=============================---------
