Basic MUSH Commands

As with any other computer game, you will have to learn a few commands to move around and talk with other players. The basic commands used to participate in the game are few and fairly easy to learn. The following resources will introduce you to the basic commands. Please return to the main MUSH Resources page for links to other types of MUSH resources.

Comments and suggestions for additions are welcomed at: saidar@fantasyalternative.org.

Beginner's Guide to MUSH
Introduces the basic commands for movement and communication, and other useful game commands.

Saidar's MUSH School
Saidar wrote a MUSH school for users to learn and practice with the basic commands on the MUSH itself. The MUSH School also includes tutorials for some common features and commands that are provided by many games. This is for TinyMUSH - some things will be different on PennMUSH. The MUSH school is available for download via the FTP Site
Note: The MUSH school has a room for +mail, using the Brandy +mail system. There is an @mail tutorial for TinyMUSH 3.x @mail available.

MUSH Reference
Nick Gammon's MUSH Reference guide is a good place for newer MUSHers to begin. It currently covers the basic commands and concepts, building, and a few additional topics such as locks and substitutions. The guide includes material specific to the PennMUSH server, but the majority of information applies to most MUSH servers. Additional information will be added in the future.

The Dreaming's Basic MUSH Help
Covers logging in, basic communication and movement commands, getting help online, and a few of the things you can set on your character. Also includes a definition of what a MUSH is, and how to connect to one.

Living Fiction's MUSH Web Tutorial
Introduces the basic MUSH commands, including describing and locking your character, talking to other people and logging off the game.

MUSH Information in Russian
