Restricted Information (restricteds are characters like channelers and warders)
The White Tower admin DOES need to approve all bonds. If an Aes Sedai wishes to bond someone as her Warder, she should submit a request to the Amyrlin. Bonds to characters who have not received Warder training at the Tower will be considered, but aren't automatically approved. Bonds to females or other characters who would be rare or unheard of as Warders will also be considered, to allow for plots, but only a few will be approved. The Tower also needs to be advised in advance if people want to dissolve or transfer bonds. Type news warder on the MUSH for more information about the bond policy.
Some general information about the Tower character types and some points to consider if you're going to try for one of these types follows.
1. Is your ability inborn or trainable. That decision is up to you, you don't need to pick anything special in chargen. There are more trainable channelers than inborn. If you pick to be inborn, and want to have channeled before coming to the Tower, you probably have a block, and should include what it is in your background. See block on the Assets page more information about blocks.
2. How you want your ability to be discovered. Girls regularly travel to the Tower to be tested for the ability. Some are also discovered by Aes Sedai out in the world. We'll need to know what you want to do so we can arrange to role-play that with you.
See fc: novice on the Assets page for more information about choosing Novice in chargen.
In the Tales world, Novice training generally lasts 2 to 3 IC years. If a woman's Novice period lasted longer than 3 to 4 years, it's usually because she's weak with the Power, or she had a character flaw that the Aes Sedai were trying to stamp out of her.
Starting out with an Accepted character can be a role-play challenge, because you'll have to role-play that you already know some of the people who were at the Tower while you were ICly a Novice. If you're new to MUSH RP, you may find starting out with a Novice more comfortable.
See fc: accepted on the Assets page for more information about choosing Accepted in chargen.
Novice training on Tales generally lasts 2 to 3 IC years, and the same for Accepted training. If either period lasts longer than 3-4 years, it's usually because a woman is weak with the One Power, or has a character flaw that the Aes Sedai were trying to help her overcome. The youngest allowed age for a newly-raised Aes Sedai is 20. You can also choose to have been Aes Sedai for some time, the oldest age allowed for an Aes Sedai in chargen is 275.
Approved Aes Sedai can choose to RP that they've been at the Tower for a while, or that they've recently returned to the Tower from a mission or assignment. You can contact the Amyrlin for some ideas of possible missions and assignments based on IC events. The Amyrlin will also discuss with you the possibilities for current and future assignments, in or out of the Tower.
See fc: aes sedai on the Assets page for more about choosing Aes Sedai in chargen.
The Tower never releases a girl until she has her ability under enough control not to be a danger to herself or others. Once the Tower has expelled someone, they are not welcome back for more training, so this character type is no longer associated with the Tower. Approved failed Novices are welcome to contact the Tower admin to find out who they might know from their time in the Tower.
See fc: failed novice on the Assets page for more information about choosing this character type in chargen.

If you're approved to approve to play a Trainee, you should include information in your background about how you want to come to the Tower to begin your training, so we can arrange to role-play that out with you. Virtually all Trainees are men who approached the Tower and requested training. The Tower only accepts those who seem to have the necessary potential, which includes being physically healthy and having a desire to serve the Tower and the Aes Sedai.
See warder: trainee on the Assets page for more information about choosing this character type in chargen.
Starting out with a Proven character can be a role-play challenge, because you'll have to role-play that you already know some of the people who were at the Tower while you were ICly a Trainee. If you're new to MUSH RP, you may find starting out with a Trainee more comfortable.
Each Proven is part of a Path of Warder training. See the Warder section of this site for more information on Paths.
See warder: proven on the Assets page for more information about choosing this character type in chargen.
A trained Warder should be no less than 20 years old, otherwise you might not be able to afford all the skills you need and want to buy in chargen. Those Warders who reach old age before being killed in duty are usually retired, but starting with a trained Warder character older than 60 is not impossible. Each Warder is part of a Path, see the Warder section of this site for more information.
It is not possible to start play being bonded. Bonds are arranged onscreen, between individual Warders and Aes Sedai, and must be approved by the Tower. If you wish to have been bonded to an NPC Aes Sedai in the past, you might want to read the lost ward: warder information on the Assets page for more information.
See warder: trained on the Assets page for information on selecting a trained Warder character in chargen.
Retired Warders are no longer actively involved with the Tower. If you'd like to be a retired Warder who still lives at the Tower, please include that in your background. Whether involved with the Tower or not, retired Warders are not eligible to bond to another Aes Sedai because they are no longer physically fit enough.
The MUSH has made this character type available for those who would like to play characters who have had Warder training and Warder skills, but are no longer associated with the Tower, as there has been an interest in this in the past. If you'd like to be involved in the Tower or bond to an Aes Sedai, you should try for one of the other Warder types.
Type warder: retired on the Assets page for more information about choosing this character type in chargen.
