Dragon Plot Dates and Times ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Information on participation in this event is included further down in this note. A copy of this information is posted at: http://www.ta-veren.org/events.txt. Friday, May 19 at 9pm Eastern ----------------------------- The Dragonsworn arrive on the plains of Tar Valon. A force from the White Tower and Tar Valon will also arrive on the plain, allowing an opportunity to RP parlay or general preparation. Saturday, May 20 at 7pm Eastern ------------------------------- RP of preparation for conflict, followed by the battle. Tar Valon Area Participation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Those wishing to participate on the side of the White Tower/Tar Valon can participate in several ways: * Tar Valon Guard Join the Tar Valon Guard either as a permanent recruit or an emergency levy who is released from the Guard after this current crisis is resolved. Guards and new recruits and levies should contact Akorin and Cor'sidan to arrange training and equiping RP. Puppet character guards are welcome. * Noble Houses The White Tower urges the noble Houses in Tar Valon to lend their support. Support could take the form of financial aid for the Tower's efforts, a public statement denouncing Dain and encouraging the government in their nation of origin to do the same, or allowing its armsmen and family members to fight in the battle. Noble Houses wishing to support the White Tower should contact Naidanac and Siobhan. Members of noble Houses may want to contact their House heads to learn what the House's official stance is before choosing to support either side in this conflict. * Tower Members Members of the White Tower have been sent contact names and general information by the Tower administration. Roseana is the overall coordinator of the Tower/Tar Valon response to this situation. Dragonsworn Participation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Those wishing to participate on the side of the Dragonsworn can participate in one of several ways: * Dragonsworn People are welcome to create puppet or temp characters who are members of the Dragonsworn army. Contact Dain and Earth. * Noble Houses Noble Houses in Tar Valon are also free to choose to support Dain's claims rather than the Tower (and can also take a neutral stance) with financial support, public statements of support, or use of their armsmen. Contact Dain if you'd like to support him. Battle Information ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope this will answer the major questions people might have about the battle, but if it doesn't, please contact Earth or Saidar. Conflict Resolution ------------------- This conflict is part of a plot, and we have predetermined a very general result to it. Our predetermination applies to the NPCs who make up the bulk of the forces, although it may have larger consequences that echo in general RP following this event. Actions involving player characters (and PC-run puppets) are NOT predetermined, and will be resolved through consent, our battle code and judging of RP. Players will win or fail based on their character's actions and skills. Individual conflicts will be adjudicated in the same way as with the battle in Canluum. Each participating character will be given a combat rating (see below on combat ratings for chargenned and non-chargenned characters and puppets), and judges will use a coded command that uses those ratings to determine who wins combat between pairs or groups of characters. Note that consent still applies. The code will not maim or kill anyone, the choice of whether your character is maimed or killed is completely up to you. Consequences to your character for your IC actions also still apply, and if the RP circumstances are appropriate you could be taken captive, etc. Combat Ratings for Chargenned Characters ---------------------------------------- If you've been through chargen and plan to participate in the battle, please contact Earth to set a combat rating on your character. Please contact him prior to Saturday if at all possible, even if you aren't sure whether or not you'll be able to attend. Combat Ratings for Non-Chargenned Characters and Puppets -------------------------------------------------------- If you do not wish to go through chargen or you are running a puppet, please contact Earth and let him know whether your character is a combat or non-combat oriented character, and he will set a combat rating on the puppet/character that reflects that. This rating will be on average lower than that of a character who has been through chargen. If you do wish to go through chargen but have not had the opportunity to do so because it is closed, we offer the following alternative. There are blank character sheets and complete chargen documentation at http://www.ta-veren.org/char/chargen/ that you can go through to roll up your character's abilities. Once you have done that, mail Earth the following information. You must mail Earth BEFORE Saturday to do this, he won't have time to be doing this immediately prior to or during the battle (although he can still set generic combat ratings at that time). * The character's highest weapon Skill. * The rating in the Statistic associated with that Skill, whether positive or negative. See 'cg ' to list the associated Stats. For example, Dexterity is the associated Stat for the Sword Skill. * The character's Dodge or Defense rating, whichever is higher. * The rating in Quickness (if you chose Dodge) or Dexterity (if you chose Defense). * Your character's Luck if it's anything other than 0. * Any bonuses or penalities your character has in Dodge/Defense or the weapon Skill. (These bonuses and penalties come from the Assets/Flaws Weapon Flair, Aptitude, Natural Warrior, Weapon Bungler, Inept and Unfit Warrior.) NOTE: Do NOT include any bonuses, skill levels or other abilities you would receive from purchase of restricted Assets of Flaws. We're not approving characters here for anything, we're just offering people a quick fix to better reflect their character's abilities in the conflict in light of the fact that chargen's been down for a while. NOTE: This information will be updated to reflect the new plot activities that are part of the extension of this plot line in the near future. The plot will NOT be ending on April 11. Hi all. We are attempting to run an ambitious and exciting plot to coincide with the last days of the IC millenium on the MUSH. I'm not going to tell you exactly what we're doing, we think it will be more fun for that to come out through role-play, but I'm going to provide you as much information as we can to allow you to get your characters involved in this plot if you'd like to do that. How to Get Involved ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are three main ways to get involved, outlined below. Further down is a schedule of events. The big events will probably be scheduled in Eastern evening time, but we'll try and get some events going at additional times, and the general RP and repercussions of the events should allow for off-time RP, as well. We encourage as many people as possible to go on the trips - the more people are travelling together, the more interesting the travel RP is. Note that only a small number of Tower characters will be permitted to join the trip groups, and Tower characters are not particularly encouraged to go on these trips. The Tower will be able to play a role in the finale of the plot. 1. Dain's Trip Dain and whomever would like to go with him will leave Caemlyn to travel towards Illian on Saturday, March 25. He'll begin IC recruitment in a few days. If you'd like to go, contact Dain and Akaina and let the know. After spending a bit of time in Illian, the group will likely travel back to Caemlyn (allowing additional people to join), and then move on to another destination for the finale of the plot, which takes place on Tuesday, April 11. A festival will be hosted in Illian on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday March, 29. Something exciting is going to happen on one of those days beyond the festival itself. Characters from outside of Caemlyn are encouraged to join Dain's group by travelling separately to Illian for the festival, and then joining up with his group there. If you wish to do that, you must leave for Illian on Thursday, March 23 to get there in time, go to the travel room at #1542. 2. Heronimus' Trip Heronimus and Tireena the Seer will leave Tar Valon on March, March 27 to travel to Kandor. An exciting RP event will be played in Kandor on Saturday, April 1. Anyone in the Tar Valon area who would like to go on this trip is invited to contact Heronimus and Tireena. They will begin to ICly recruit people over the next few days. Once the Kandor RP is finished, the group will begin to travel to another destination for the finale of this plot, which takes place on Tuesday, April 11. Characters from Caemlyn who would like to go on the trip with Heronimus and Tireena first need to travel to Tar Valon. They must leave the Caemlyn area on Wednesday, March 22 to get there in time, go to the travel room at #1542. Note that this the only opportunity to join this trip. People who don't want to join up now should consider option 3 for getting involved. Also note that there will be an opportunity for people who stay in Tar Valon to participate in the finale of the plot. 3. Puppets and Temp Characters Temporary characters and puppets are welcomed into either group, and can join at any time. Contact any wizard or mail to chars@dragoncat.net to obtain an additional character. Read 'news puppets' on the MUSH for instructions on how to make and control a puppet, and contact any +staff member if you run into difficulties. In particular, we will need puppets and temporary characters not involved in Heronimus' trip for the RP event on April 1. Sunday, March 26 ---------------- A role-play incident to kick off Heronimus and Tireena's trip takes place in the Great Tree Inn at 9pm Eastern. Monday, March 27 ---------------- Heronimus and Tireena's group will leave Tar Valon to travel to Kandor on this date. Dain's group arrives in Illian. Those travelling to Illian from other areas arrive in Illian. Tuesday, March 29 ----------------- Festival in Illian, surprise RP. Wednesday, March 30 ------------------- Festival in Illian. (Rain date for surprise RP.) Thursday, March 30 ------------------ Dain's group leaves Illian, travelling back towards Caemlyn.
