Tales of Ta'veren MUSH Memorial

Tales of Ta'veren MUSH permanently closed its doors on February 25, 2001. The administration would like to thank all of the people who contributed to the game, both in role-play and behind-the-scenes, in its six years of operation and development.

The game was closed mainly due to issues with the constant development that it was in. With as many players as Tales had, the admin could not focus on dev without unfairly ignoring the players; unfortunately, the development needed to be done for the growth of the game. Additionally, there were fundamental administrative structures in place that were no longer working well, and changing them also changed the nature of the game. Finally, the head admin (Saidar and Light) were having problems keeping up with both the game and their own lives, a situation which unfairly shorted the game as a whole of ultimate leadership.

The decision to close the game was not made lightly, nor without strong opposition from other admin and players alike. Unfortunately, it was the best decision for the game as a whole, especially with other games in the genre available. Two of them, Cuendillar and Tales of Ta'veren 2, received official sanction from the administration of Tales, and in turn offered to help players transition their characters. Additionally, Cuendillar received much of the softcode base from Tales of Ta'veren, including the character generation system.

This site is designed as a small memorial to Tales of Ta'veren. It contains logs, history, and game-specific thematic information. Previous players are welcome to submit additional logs for posting to Melissa (Light). URLs for log collections may be sent to the same address. Finally, anyone with anything that they feel would fit into these categories are welcome to contact Melissa to discuss inclusion.

Tales specific Theme
Some things were made specifically for Tales of Ta'veren in order to flesh out the theme; web sites were designed for the various areas of the game, to give more information about those areas.

Miscellaneous Development Information
Development for Tales was an ongoing project for many people, not just the wizards. This contains links to the volunteer recognition page, and also to the DSpace map of the world.

OOC History of the Game
In its' time, Tales had several different front-pages and won a couple of awards. It also produced a 'news rag' called the Tattle Tales.

Game-Specific Prophecy
The Wheel of Time operated on Prophecy, and Tales was no different. Some prophecies were edited to fit the game world. More was supposed to be written, but it's all been lost to time.
